Canvas Learning Management System @ WWU
What is Canvas?
Canvas is WWU’s learning management system and primary academic resource for managing course-related work.
Canvas, made by Instructure, is WWU's platform for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, and delivery of educational courses--as well as for interacting and engaging in the teaching and learning process. WWU has used Canvas for this purpose since 2012 and most of WWU's courses actively use it. It is connected to our educational data system such that courses are automatically created, populated with students as they register, and populated with faculty as they are assigned to teach courses.
Each Canvas course offers useful tools such as announcements, calendars, assignments, quizzes and surveys, a gradebook, and file sharing. Helpful options include integrations with Zoom for real-time web conferencing, Panopto for video/audio recording and management, Google Docs for assignment submission, and the ability to connect with publisher resources.
